The British monarchy embodies its history and uniqueness in all aspects whether good or poor. Any other costs of the monarchy such as royal trips and the upkeep of royal castles are met by government departments through grants-in-aid from parliament.

But this feudal system is now outdated and Britain needs change in order to revolutionalise the country and live in a more modern and democratic society. Its advocators say that it is a national icon which is impossible to replace sufficiently with other politician or individual. In the recent years there has been a growing number of support for radical changes to be made in the nature of the monarchy and proposals for reform such as having an elected representative as of head of state. There is unproved probability that monarchy harms the monarchs themselves. The succession in a monarchy does not depend on the qualification of a person. A queen gives some kind of assurance for political continuity and a living feeling of historical continuity. The crown can only be inherited by the eldest son and can only be given to the daughter if the monarch has no sons. Republicans against the system asserts that some of their expenses are done with a lot of secrecy and defies the freedom of information.
